Pin Your Interest

Pinterest is a social media network where users are allowed to pin things that spark their interest and a visual discovery engine that allows you to find ideas posted by other users. Pinterest is basically an app to inspire and get inspired. Pinterest was created by Ben Silberman on March 2010.

The common ways people use Pinterest for promoting their business or product, find recipes, find outfit ideas, to look for home and style inspiration, connect with others, etc. To go in depth businesses like Sephora use Pinterest to engage their clients. Users are also allowed to have their own boards full of things that will one day purchase , looks they'll imitate or recipes that they try.

The boards that I have on my Pinterest are called Black Excellence, Sisterlocks, Lit 90's Fashion, Get in my belly, and Dear Black Beauties.

On the board Black Excellence I pin different achievements that African Americans have made that are worth celebrating and that unfortunately goes unrecognized. The Sister Locks board shows different women with hair like mine and how they sport their lovely hair, as I do mine. The Lit 90's Fashion board consist of styles I pin that I would day like to try.  The Get In My Belly board consist of pins of food that look extremely tasty that I either want to eat or want to make. The Dear Black Beauties board is all about pinning good self representation or quotes for black women.

I have these specific topics for my board because they've either spark my interest or inspired me. I also have these boards so that I could inspire other users, spread awareness, and celebrate all the joys that come with being an African American.

I feel the significance and value of Pinterest is that it is an excellent app for business and personal accounts. It allows user to do so many things with it. It could be used for entertainment purposes, business, or ideas that wouldn't be easy accessible.

What I love about Pinterest is that it allows me to connect and express my interest with others.
