Horrific Dorian!

Have you ever had an uninvited guest who showed up to your front door? The kind that wouldn't cause too much chaos, but did enough damage to make you dread that they ever came and hope they'd never return? Well that's the way I'd describe Hurricane Dorian!

Hurricane Dorian swooped into Charleston, South Carolina without an invite on Sept. 4. Everyone in my hometown was either afraid or anxious about Dorian. In anticipation of Hurricane Dorian, my family, other shoppers and myself headed to our local Food Lion. Everyone seemed to be stocking up all at once, so there was barely any bread or water cases when my family and I arrived down the aisle. I remember passing by a friendly shopper when she said, "This Hurricane better come with all this money I've been spending." I looked at her like she was crazy because I was thinking the exact opposite. I was hoping it wouldn't come at all but it did!

Hurricane Dorian showed up in my neighborhood Wednesday night causing a ruckus. The wind was blowing hard which knocked trees onto power lines. This resulted into my house losing power until Saturday evening. We had to eat cereal and sandwiches. Also, if my phone battery died I had to go outside and charge it in my car. You could only imagine how many times I had to do that! I would drive to get gas from the gas station and the traffic light was out and power lines were on the ground.

Not only did it sffect my household but my sister who lives in Ladson as well. She took pictures of the storm pulling off her studio roof in her backyard tearing down her fence.
Despite the fact that Hurricane Dorian was a great annoyance for me, I am thankful that there weren't casualties (at least not for my family). It came uninvited and left a mess for everyone to clean but we all survived, that's the only bright side!
