LinkedIn is a professional networking site that allows users to showcase their professional identity. LinkedIn is used by job seekers, recruiters, undergraduate and graduate students, business people, etc. It operates by allowing you to select your interest and things that are relevant you . It also allows you to connect with friends, people who are related to any of your interest or business organizations. With LinkedIn you get to showcase your education and experience in fields. You can also endorse someone or get endorsed.

LinkedIn also allows you to post a professional picture of yourself as a profile. I took a professional image as you can see above with Mr. Rolando Davis (contact info: rdavis61@scsu.edu) specifically for my LinkedIn account, where I could easily represent myself with this picture as person who can professionally be taken serious. Other users also may get their pictures professionally taken for this purpose as well. With my LinkedIn account I will try to convey my professionalism and skill set.

I think LinkedIn is popular because the features allow you to reach out to so many people. I also think that it is popular because it helps recruiters and those who are searching for a job to connect in a more simpler and professional way. LinkedIn allows you to showcase your professional identity in ways that simply having a resume or filled out application can not.

Some fo the LinkedIn features that I like and think is important is connect feature, being able to manage your endorsements, showcase pages, and being able to add media files to your profile.

One of the LinkedIn accounts I recognized was Zion Riley's. She has her interests set to help her connect with Like-minded people and she has education part of her profile to showcase her credibility.
